Weeks 3-4

Weeks 3 and 4 were weeks of growth, both for Alexandria and for us. We started getting our systems down in these weeks, and she started getting her timing for feedings and sleep down. She's now letting us sleep about 4-5 hours at night, and she's eating about 3 hours apart during the days. She's smiling more, holding her head up more often, and doing really well with tummy time. She's responding to our voices and starting to focus and track us with her eyes. She's struggled with bowel movements, crying very loudly before each one, but she's getting better at that too...only doing that 2-3 times a day now instead of every time...what a relief!

We, in turn, are getting better at getting things done throughout the day between feedings. We have to hustle, and there are many days when I don't get "breakfast" until 1 pm, but we're at least handling it with more understanding of how to time everything. Greg and I are becoming a more seamless team, and I have to extend a huge note of appreciation to him for being a great partner in this. Of course, he's a great daddy, but it means a lot to me that he's also a supportive and engaged husband. It's important to us that we maintain the strength of our relationship first, because it's the foundation for being good parents for Alexandria, and so far, we've done really well with this.

We started getting out of the house more this last week too, with trips to see Daddy at work, our friends Jen, Matt, and Owen in Aliso Viejo, our friends Nicki and Colten down the street, and a windy beach trip to the Bluffs at Huntington Beach. We also had visits from our fabulous Aunt Cece and Cousin Mitzi as well as our good friends Bridget and Darren. It's been a very busy 2 weeks, but it's great to be out and social again!

We also had our last week with Grandma and Grandad Camp before they went on their own adventures to Yosemite, Sequoia National Park, and the Grand Canyon. It was good to have them here, and we're happy they got time with Alexandria. We look forward to the next time we can all be together again.

I know that to many, the pictures don't show how much Alexandria's grown, but I can promise you that she changes every day. The real comparison is between the 1-2 week post and this one. Most of the shots I've been posting focus on her so much because she changes so quickly, and I want a record of what she looks like. We'll start showing more of what we're doing as we go, but for now, I'm just happy to overwhelm everyone with pictures just of our girl...

Day 14

Day 15

Tummy Time!

Day 16

Grandad Camp is a very proud Grandaddy!

She sleeps with that mouth open often.

Day 17

She also loves her Daddy!

Super snuggly after a bath

Day 18

Grandad and Grandma Camp read her "Goodnight Moon"

Day 19

The first day of Fashion Week

She had amazing patterns in her hair. Two days later, all of the baby hair in the front fell out to make room for big girl hair.

Day 20

We sleep a lot!

(This is one of my favorite things...her snuggled on my chest.)

Day 21

She's also good at getting other people to sleep too...she got Grandma this time!

Day 22

With fabulous Aunt Cece

Day 23

Fashion Week continues.

Daddy has a good snuggling chest too.

If this photo indicates the future, Mommy is going to have her hands full with these two!

Grandma Camp has the touch.

Day 24

This child has the ability to escape anything. She's wearing a swaddle sack and has found a way to get her arms free already. I think she's saying something like, "Bring it on!"

That's our goober daughter. So silly!

Day 25

And this is our sleeping daughter. Oh, so sweet!

Day 26

I love when she's this awake. She's incredibly engaging already.

In the car seat, hanging with Mr. Elephant.

Day 27

Fashion Week continues. We dressed up to visit our boyfriend, Owen Waldrip.

It took a little while for everyone to be awake at the same time...

...but by the end of the day, we finally got some time awake together.

We had such a great time visiting our friends, that it knocked both of us out later!

Day 28

Daddy love!

Day 29

Day 30

"I win!"
